Everyone loves a park!
Did you know that Calgary has 5,300 parks and counting? Just recently the City of Calgary announced an investment of $75M from the ENMAX Legacy Parks program which will benefit 18 parks in Calgary, including several parks in the inner-city. There is also $3M in the budget to acquire new land for parks.
Residents living in the northwest will benefit from improvements to Bowness Park, Blakiston Park (Brentwood), Confederation Park, Edworthy Park and Douglas Fir Trail. For those working in the west end of downtown, Century Gardens is getting a mega makeover.
Did you know that Calgary boasts two of the largest urban parks in the world – Fish Creek Park and Nose Hill Park? Both of these parks are more than three times the size of Vancouver’s Stanley Park or New York’s Central park.
Calgary’s Everyday Tourist, thinks that our city’s moniker should be “Calgary: The City of Parks & Pathways!” I tend to agree with him. Who wouldn’t want to live, work and play in the City of Parks & Pathways.
